Valentines day at Quinn’s.
Sam liked that Quinn didn’t put him down, she didn’t shoot down his ideas. In fact, she made him feel like she actually wanted to know what he was thinking. It never used to be like that, it was a pleasant change Sam had decided. He whipped out his camera and whilst Quinn wasn’t focused on him, he snapped a picture of her. She looked over at him and rolled her eyes, but not cruelly. So Sam decided it would be okay for him to take some more pictures of them. He shuffled closer to her, sliding her legs closer to his stomach and started to take silly pictures of them. He had to admit that he was having a lot of fun, and they weren’t even doing anything. He didn’t want to think of the fact that he would have to ‘share’ her with someone else at some point, so he just shrugged and looked away, whilst his inner self was screaming at him to ‘be cool’. “well I’m glad you like them, I picked the ribbon because I thought it matched your pretty eyes.” The sentence came out and Sam felt the blood rising to his cheeks, and he literally face palmed himself.
Gently lifting Quinn’s legs up, he slid out from under her and ran his hand through his hair as he stretched. “Errr, I’m going to change, you can choose the film, I don’t mind, I trust your judgement.” He smiled at her for a few seconds, trying to read her expression. And for the second time that day, Sam strode out of the room with his all-in-one and went to change in the bathroom. All the while berating himself for his stupid and childish ways.
She laughed when he was taking pictures. An amused smile formed on her face, but when he went to change, it became more of a thoughtful one. Now, she just had to see what movie she’d pick. There were a few really cheesy ones. But she wanted to do something to keep it fun. She remember that a while ago, Sam said something about Nightmare on Elm Street when she mentioned it. Of course, she found it to be very scary. But just for a minute, while telling him it was another cheesy V-Day movie..She thought it would be some kind of a joke. She never was the funny one, but she could at least try it. She grabbed the dvd and put it into the dvd player. She almost skipped the main menu and freezed the movie right at the first second. Now, he wouldn’t see the title. Only a black screen. She smiled. How long would it take for him to find out that it wasn’t a Valentine’s movie?
She stared at her batgirl all-in-one and decided that she’d better go and put it on as well. As she grabbed it, she walked towards her room. When she closed the door behind her, she got her hair out of the ponytail and put the all-in-one on. She still had the ribbon on her wrist and didn’t care about the fact that it didn’t matched her outfit. It matched her eyes, that was good enough. She laughed quietly for a second when she thought back. One of the first things she could remember Sam saying to her was that she had pretty eyes in a weird Avatar language. She forgot what he actually said and decided she’d ask him later on. When she was finished in her room, she walked back to the living room and sat on the couch. ‘Ready to watch a movie?’ she called out, trying to hide the grin on her face.
Sam had put his all-in-one on in a record breaking time of 56 seconds. He had timed himself again, because one day, he’d be famous for being the quickest ‘undresser’ in the history of the world! Sam shook his head and murmured ‘stop being weird now’ to himself as he took his bundled clothes and went to walk out the door. He passed a mirror and reversed slowly. He had to make sure that he looked okay. His pyjamas were a tiny bit small, but they were clean, as was his face. He checked his teeth and breath, before promptly cringing at the fact that he had checked his teeth and breath. He didn’t think he had ever done that in such a cringeworthy manner.
“Ready to watch a movie?” Sam knew that Quinn was in the front room, but it didn’t stop him jumping, feeling like he’d been caught red handed. ‘I’m coming.” Sam shouted, before frowning at what she may perceive to be an actual innuendo. Sam knew he was a mess. But there wasn’t anything he could do. So he took a deep breath and strode out the bathroom with his head held high, straight into the front room. He glanced over at Quinn ready to make a remark about the blacked out television, and then stopped before he said anything. She looked beautiful. She had taken her hair out of the ponytail, which meant Sam wanted to run his fingers through what looked like silk. She had an impish grin on her face and looked up at him. “You’re wearing the all-in-one?” Sam had brought it for her to wear, but wasn’t sure she would. The fact that she had warmed him down to his toes. Sam was trying to be conscious of his actions, so slowly walked over to the couch and sat down. He turned his head and caught Quinn looking at him. She smiled, which made him let out a breath he didn’t know he had been holding in. “Go on then, what sappy film have you put on in the hopes of making me cry?” Sam relaxed, and sat back into the couch and pulled her legs back over his torso- he was more comfortable that way.
Valentines day at Quinn’s.
Sam was aware that he was staring at Quinn. But, he couldn’t help it. She looked lovely. And she wanted to have a geeky Valentines day?! “Oh, sure, you’re going to look totally awesome in it”. Sam pulled the batgirl all-in-one out of his bag and handed it to her. It was almost matching to his, just somehow it looked more feminine. The pink bits added on probably helped. He smiled at her reaction. And carried on smiling whilst he took out his one. “Yeah, well, this is going to be the best Valentines ever Q! So we need a lot of food… and I did no such thing. you have no proof.” Sam blushed, it was a tad embarrassing to have taken a picture, but he wanted to remember the day, really badly for some reason.
Quinn showed him the ribbon attached to her wrist, it was just the right match for her eyes, and Sam was momentarily proud that he had remembered. “It’s fine, I was going to get you flowers, but, they die at the end of the week, so I thought you could have ones that stick around a bit longer…” Again Sam blushed and had to look down at the floor. He didn’t understand why he was being so silly. It’s wasn’t like Quinn even thought of him like that- or would ever want to. And what about Mercedes? Sam couldn’t take his confusing mind, so he took her hand and led her back into the front room. And made them both collapse onto the couch. “Is someone else supposed to be coming?” Sam couldn’t understand why, but he really didn’t want anyone else spending the day with Quinn. But, it was just because… he was her friend, and hadn’t seen a lot of her.
She smiled when he gave her the batgirl all-in-one. It looked pretty geeky, but kind of cute at the same time. ‘We’re going to have some sort of a superhero Valentine,’ she said, holding it up. ‘And if I don’t have prove, I’d like to claim your camera.’ She noticed how he blushed a little. ‘It’s not bad to take pictures, it won’t make you any less manly,’ she said. ‘Now, if you’d wear this-’ she held up her batgirl all-in-one. ‘It’d be a little different. But that’s not the thing now,’ she said. She grabbed some waffles. ‘Well, if we’re going to eat all this food, we better start now or we won’t be done before tomorrow.’ She laughed quietly and smiled at him.
‘The flower’s pretty,’ she commented, sounding happy. ‘And I think I could get my mom to do something with the ribbon. Like, make a bracelet out of it or something. We’ll just add some sparkly things and it’d look just like a really professional bracelet. It’s just the perfect colour.’ When she was led back, she smiled, taking the waffles with her. As she sat down on the couch, she put her legs over each other. ‘Do you want to ask a movie?’ she asked, offering him one of the waffles. ‘Well, Wes was going to come, but I haven’t really heard from him. So we’ll see..’ She stared in front of her for a few seconds, only to turn her head to Sam after that, smiling and waiting for his reaction.
And for the second time that day, Sam strode out of the room with his all-in-one and went to change in the bathroom. All the while berating himself for his stupid and childish ways.
Valentines day at Quinn’s.
The door opened and Sam immediately smelled the sweet scent of Quinn. She stood there smiling and moved over to let him in. He was silently cursing his stupid feet for being so uncoordinated. He felt like a clumsy mess, beside Quinn, who always looked so delicate and groomed. She finished her sentence and glanced at him. Sam wasn’t sure, but he thought she was almost as nervous and restless as he was. ‘Lonely Valentines Day’. The words flew about Sams head and made his stomach feel a bit queasy. He smiled at her, trying to hide his sudden discomfort and pushed the flower pot into her hand. “These are for you Q. I suppose I should be alone for Valentines. But, you shouldn’t.” He turned around and made his way to the kitchen- He’s been to her house enough times to remember the way. He called behind him, “I’ve got all the food, come check it out, Oh and I have our comfortable clothes ready too!”. Before he could hear if she had indeed replied or not, Sam was already placing everything onto the Island in the middle of the kitchen. He placed everything in a heart, and proceeded to take a picture of it.
He had more than one thought flitting through his head. Quinn was still beautiful. He liked her company now, more than he had done so before. She was lighter, less harsh. It was like she took all the pain she had been harboring and used it to be brilliant or something. Like a phoenix rising from the ashes. ‘Harry potter should never have ended’ popped into his mind so fast that it made him giggle. He also couldn’t shake the feeling that this was a date, and he was cheating on Mercedes. But then he thought sadly, ‘it’s only cheating if the other person cares’. ‘I need to stop thinking’ was the next thought that popped into Sam’s head, along with the fact that he needed to take Quinn somewhere nice to congratulate her on her Yale acceptance. He turned around to see if said Quinn had actually followed him into the kitchen or not.
She shook her head a little. ‘No one deserves to be alone on Valentine’s, Sammy,’ she said, smiling a little. She looked at the flower and it made her smile even more. ‘Oh, this is wonderful!’ she said, giving him a thankful glance for a second. She walked to the living room and put the flower pot on the coffee table. There would still be enough room for whatever they were going to put on it, but she thought the flower would look nice there. She carefully took the light green ribbon and tied it around her wrist. She really liked the color and maybe she’d ask her mom to make something with it later. She sat down for a moment, but when Sam called from the kitchen, she got up quickly and walked towards him.
‘That’s really a lot of food,’ was actually the only thing she could get out of her mouth at this moment, staring at the spread out things on the island in the middle of the kitchen. ‘It’s a heart,’ was the second thing she noticed and said. ‘Did you just take a picture of it?’ she said, smiling a little. ‘I thought I heard a camera. But we’re not going to eat all of this, are we? And where’s my batwoman suit? I want to do a geeky V-Day for once,’ said Quinn. She looked at all the things lying on the island. It was really a lot. Chocolate, waffles, ice cream. He kept his word and it made her smile. ‘Look,’ she said, showing him the ribbon on her wrist. ‘Thanks for the flower.’ She smiled, staring at him for a second.

Valentines day at Quinn’s.
Sam was still hurting over Mercedes proposal of not being together. Ever. It hurt him when he thought about it. It still hurt when he tried to ignore it. And it was at it’s worse when he was trying to sleep. He truly hated having a heart- because it was just broken, and hurting and dull. He’d rather be cruel and uncaring, so he wouldn’t have to feel the way he did. But, Sam also knew that he did have a heart, and the only way it was going to get better was if they did get back together, or he tried to move on. And Sam didn’t think Mercedes was going to choose him anytime soon. He was sitting in his truck, listening to Noah and the whale, singing along, or melodically shouting some would call it, “This is a song for anyone with a broken heart. This is a song for anyone who can’t get out of bed. I’ll do anything to be happy…”. Once Sam had calmed down long enough, he ruffled through the shopping bags that were to the left of him. He had kept his word and bought Popcorn, chocolate, Ice cream, sorbet, waffles, a whole selection of different berries, sweets and loads of crisp. He realised as he ran through his still wet hair, that he had bought a mini feast. But he didn’t really care.
He was excited about spending the day with Quinn. He missed her. Quite a lot. Not that long ago, he thought she was his everything. But their relationship hadn’t been healthy. They had both used each other. Sam cared for her though- it had killed him to break up with her, and it had angered him to see her get her heart broken by Finn. Sam walked up to her door and paused for a few seconds before he knocked. He looked at the bags he was carrying. He had all their Valentines food ready, and he had indeed brought all-in-ones for them to wear, along with a camera- ‘just in case’- he thought with a smirk. But he was trying hard to not squash the Peony plant he had bought Quinn. He couldn’t recall her favourite flower, but he had sprinkled glitter all over them, and typed them up with a light green ribbon, matching her eyes. He knocked again, and stood back a step, slightly nervous, but liking the anticipation. It was the first time he had felt a proper emotion that wasn’t depressing.
She obviously liked spending Valentine’s Day without a date. And she obviously enjoyed sarcasm when she was thinking. As she ran around the house to collect stuff like pillows and drinks, she couldn’t help but slightly sigh when she slowed down her speed. As she grabbed some more pillows and threw them on the couch, she sat down as well. She burried her head in one of them and took a deep breath. Of course she was really excited for Sam to come over, but it just seemed so wrong not having someone to love on Valentine’s Day. The one day you can buy crazy stuff with pink hearts on it, but she didn’t have anyone to give it to. She tried to think of the fact that Valentine’s Day was just like Christmas. You spend the day with the ones you love and it costs a lot of money. She grinned at the thought and put the pillow down. She tried to think of what else she would need. But she didn’t usually do these kind of things. She found out that one of the things she was still missing was the movie. As she walked to the little box next to the dvd player where she and her mom kept their dvds, she immediately knew which one she had to take. Sam wanted to see Love Actually and she had watched it so many times that she could dream it’s place in her little dvd box. She put it down on the coffee table.
She ran upstairs to see if she needed anything from her room. She put her hair back in a ponytail, but didn’t seem to find anything else of importance in her room except the elastic which she had used to tie her hair back. As she walked to the living room again, she heard a noise. Someone knocked on the door. Smiling, she walked up to it and opened it. Only to find Sam. ‘Hey Sammy,’ she greeted him. She laughed softly and hugged him. ‘Come on in!’ she said, with a grin on her face. She stepped away so he could enter. ‘I think I’ve got everything, but I’m not quite sure. And you’d bring the food, hey? How are you on this lonely Valentine’s Day?’ she asked, biting her lower lip a little while still smiling.
Anyone interested in being my not-date on V-Day and watch a crappy movie with me?
Oh, this is going to be fun. I just know it. I’m going to have to bring a camera with me. I’m going to film this Valentines, so when you’re famous, I can sell it as a short film and people will be interested in watching Quinn Fabray pillowfighting.
Cool, I’m bringing you an all-in-one. And you’re going to have to wear it. It’s batgirl. Mine’s batman. I think I’ve got a robin one for that Wes guy. Any time I should come over?
Okay, but I want a part of the money you make with it. And I’m going to film you when you’re crying when we’re watching a movie. And I thought there wasn’t even a character called batgirl? I knew about batman’s existence and I first thought Robin was the sidekick of another superhero. But batgirl, seriously? You can come over whenever you like.
Wait a minute, why do you even have a batgirl all-in-one?
… I wanted the set okay? Argh, I always end up looking more geeky than I even intended in the first place. Do you know what- If we can make money off of embarrassing videos of our Valentines day- I’m up for it
Okay. Now you’ve said that- I’m going to bombard you with Superhero films. Whether you like it or not. I’m going to shower, and maybe comb my hair, buy some food and I’ll be right over!
Anyone interested in being my not-date on V-Day and watch a crappy movie with me?
…Food will be our date indeed. Just so you know- I’m coming to your house wearing my all-in-one. Need to be most comfortable when I pig out. I’ve got a spare if you want?
I personally don’t think it’s too crappy, but I wouldn’t mind watching Love actually. (please don’t tell anyone if you see me cry though…?)
Of course I won’t tell.
I’ll make a video and post it on youtube. Yeah, we could watch that. I’ve got it lying around here somewhere. I want an all-in-one too! But I will take pictures if you show up in it. So be warned, Evans.

Well you are. We’re going to be the start of a brilliant lonely hearts reunited club or something. We need more members to take Ohio by storm.Club sounds awesome. As well as the ice cream and chocolate. Looks like food will be our date, am I right? I don’t know how we ended up with no valentines date. But now that it is that way, let’s try to make the best out of it. Got a crappy movie you’d want to see?
